Relatively Useful
Originally presented as part of Melbourne Design Week 2022 at Heide Museum of Modern Art, ‘Relatively Useful’ by John Wardle & Simon Lloyd is an appreciation of the nature & quality of materials and the care shown in how they are employed that tells a story about the value placed on objects, beyond practicality.
A passion project influenced by a fascination for making and craft, the exhibition brings together works designed with ‘gradients of collaboration’, both individually and collectively through many conversations and a platform of shared drawings skillfully brought to life by John, Simon and list . It celebrates the skills of many.
"Function is not the primary driver, but more the theatricality of life."
