Belgium is Design.
Belgian designer and maker of collectible art, Arno Declercq, presented his 2022 collection in the incredibly impressive new design destination premiered at Fuorisalone this year, Baranzate Ateliers. The dream and effort of the Belgian design collective that created Zavantem Ateliers brought their successful formula from the paper factory in Brussels to a new audience and location in Milan. In the unused and dilapidated Necchi factory within the heritage industrial Baranzate district, Baranzate Ateliers previewed collections from the formidable roster of Belgian designers associated with Zavantem Ateliers, including architect Lionel Jadot, and introduced talent from Milan and abroad to roster. Notably the premiere of Milanese design duo, Stuiopepe.
“We’ve curated it with a scenography created by all the designers of Zaventem Ateliers, which allows for a simple and elegant reading of the pieces and the place,” Jadot says
The decaying structure of the historic Necchi building was a hauntingly beautiful canvas for the collective presentation of design works, breathing a new energy and resorting a sense of life within the historic factory. Studio Arno Declercq introduced a dramatic and incredibly sophisticated new collection, proving once again how deep, contrasting and varied a monochromatic palette could be. The body of work showcased a feast of rich textures, myriad black tones and a depth of intriguing materials and unique production processes to create beautiful finishes pieces.
