Artist and printmaker Sophie Westerman’s collection, Close Distance, features a series of limited-edition fine art prints curated in collaboration with Hub Furniture. This collection of work, available for purchase, focuses on architectural structures in their most minimal forms. Sophie explores the relationships between buildings and their facades – and the spaces created between them – by using copper etching plates in a variety of textures, shapes and sizes as building blocks to create an image. Layering and experimenting with combinations of these copper plates produces surprising compositions that challenge notions surrounding structure and space.
 
Sophie is a Melbourne-based artist and printmaker whose work employs a variety of different printmaking techniques such as etching, monoprinting and lithography. “I use image making as a medium for communicating thoughts and feelings which are difficult to achieve through real world interactions,” says Sophie.
 
She finds that her working style lends itself well to the freedom of experimentation and play. "I like to switch between a range of mediums, as it forces me to approach my work from different directions."
